Handling the Rear-Wheel Skid

One type of skid that you are going to have to deal with if you have rear-wheel drive is the rear-wheel skid. This is also known as the fishtail skid because the back wheel slides out from behind the vehicle. While there is a lot of misleading information about fishtail skids, there is something you can do in order to correct it.

One thing that you can do in a fishtail skid is be very careful when skidding. If your vehicle starts fishtailing to the right, then you want to turn your steering wheel just enough to the right so that you can correct the direction of your vehicle.

One thing that you want to avoid with the fishtail skids is turning way too suddenly, this can actually prolong the skid because you are turning your car back and forth while it is sliding. The goal is to make sure that your vehicle is riding straight.
